Exploration of St. Lucia

Saint Lucia, better known as the "land of the iguanas", made its first settlement during the 1500s by Francois le Clerc. Although this finding was at random, later came Thomas warner to conquer the island and claim it as European territory. It is interesting how back in the day, people had to power to conquer the land if they had the men and power necessary for it. I ask myself; how would that feel in the present day? Although, the French did many wonders for Saint Lucia, which helped shape their history.  For example, they were able to abolish slavery for quite some time, but unfortunately, power fell into the wrong hands. Fast-forwarding to the early 1800s, Saint Lucia was free and considered a liberated island. Although slavery and other negative things existed, I believe it is important to acknowledge them and see their importance because they helped shape Saint Lucia overall.
